Finding a Church Home

by Amanda on November 22, 2011

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  {John 14:6}

My spirituality and believes are not something that I have hidden on my blog, however they are going to be appearing more and more as I grow in life and grow towards God (you can find previous posts about my believes here and here). My history with religion has been messy, at best, and something that was almost puzzle-like–I could never quite arrange the pieces to fall into place. I am now, however learning how to rotate those puzzle pieces and things are finally starting to make sense to me.

One of my goals with the Day Zero Project was:

40. Find a church that feels like home (Complete 11/13/11)

I’m happy to say that I have found a church–a church with a wonderful worship service, multiple Bible classes, small group studies and a minister that is willing to take time out of his week to do a one to one study with me. I feel like I have known some of the members forever and I will actually be spending Thanksgiving with one of the church families, as I am unable to go home this week.

Of course, I am at a learning curve, as I knew I would be. Not having a strong religious upbringing will do that to anyone. But everyday I am learning more, and growing in my faith. I think I am going back to my 750words account, and I am going to really openly communicate about my faith more. And who knows, maybe some of those posts will be shared on here as well.

So a busy life has gotten busier … by about six hours a week. The funny thing is, while it is busier, it feels more complete, and I know I am moving in the right direction.

Thank you so much! I really enjoy watching myself transform as I am growing and learning more about my spiritual journey. I know that this was definitely the best thing that could happen to me right now :)

I know what’s it’s like to struggle spiritually. EVERYONE goes through it. In fact, I actually just posted about it last week on my blog (if you want to read it, the post is here: http://averyfan.blogspot.com/2011/11/are-you-there-god-its-me-rachel.html).

I’m glad you have found a church where you feel that you belong. Finding a church family is so important. You need to be with fellow believers to help you grow and also to help you when you are struggling.

Best of luck in your journey! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

:)

Rachel, Thank you so much for sharing that post with me. As someone that is still discovering my faith, it is so encouraging to hear from other bloggers about their spirituality.
