As ya’ll know, over Christmas I was lucky enough to take a break from school and work and travel up to my Northern roots to spend the holidays with my friends and family. To say that it was a crazy trip is a huge understatement — Lucy got to see snow for the first time, I got to catch up with some fabulous friends, I was able to go to restaurants that are not in Starkville, MS (oh wait, that eliminates Applebee’s and Chili’s ….), and I was finally able to meet a great blogging friend, Amanda!
My first leg of the journey was from Mississippi to Michigan where I got to spend time with my mom, her boyfriend and their dogs. We celebrated my birthday and Christmas, took a lot of pictures of the dogs, and relaxed together. I don’t get to see them very often, so it is always nice when I do get to.
After Michigan I headed to Ohio to see my dad and sister. They live about 45 minutes away from Akron (where I got my undergrad degree), so it is always a good time to see local friends too! My dad always has the best dinners for us (our Christmas eve dinner was seafood alfredo and steak) and I finally got to see snow for the first time since I’ve been south.
My sister and I then made it to New York to see my aunt, uncle and cousins. We spent the night up laughing playing Quelf (if you haven’t played it, you are definitely missing out on some good laughs!)
After that is was back to Ohio to relax some more. I got to spend some quality time with my sister including a lazy day of watching One Tree Hill, making fun of the way Netflix displays some of their movies, and some sister-roommate-Lucy bonding time.
It was then finally time for me to head back home. On the way I stopped in Nashville and got to meet up with Amanda! It was so nice to finally meet her!
Over all, it was a great trip! I made it from Mississippi to Tennessee to Arkansas to Missouri to Indiana to Illinois to Michigan to Ohio to New York, back to Ohio, to Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and finally back to Mississippi. I loved being able to spend time with my family and friends, and Lucy loved her first experience in the snow (click here to see the video!)
